Background of the GLENDA YEE SCHOOL OF DANCE

Glenda founded her studio back in 1985.
Prior to this she had been teaching casual classes at a studio at Burwood, when some of the adults in her class asked if she could start a ‘mums’ class closer to Liverpool.
So it began, in a pre-school hall at Busby, one night per week.
It wasn’t long before the mums asked if Glenda would also teach their children, and neighbours, and friends, and so the word spread.

Glenda had learnt dance from the early age of 3, had excelled as a child in all styles, and had completed a 3 year, full time Dance course at the Sydney Dance Development Centre at Newtown. She performed in a modern dance company during this time which toured Australia and New Zealand. She had also completed The Diploma of Teaching with the Department of Education and already had 6 years teaching experience in primary schools, which taught her a great deal of practical skills all necessary for the management of her own studio.

However, more study was required if she was to take on the responsibility of training young bodies.
So an association was formed with the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing, whereby Glenda completed her dance qualifications, and was accepted to EXAMINER status in 2004.
Glenda continues to teach and oversee all tap and jazz grade classes.

ELITE

The ELITE class was formed in July 2006. It was set up by Glenda’s daughter Kaylie, after she returned from a 3 month stint in LA. She could see the need to give more intensive training and guidance to the student who was already at a peak level of technique, and who had the personal drive to excel further.

This is a selected group of dancers.

They are students who have strong, classically based technique.

They are students who have motivation and drive to carve a future for themselves in the entertainment industry.

These students have excellent attendance records in all styles of dance.

Teachers remark on their positive attitude and dedication to hard work in each class.
