In addition to this day, Glenda will be available at the studio for personal interviews between
5pm & 7pm on Wednesday 30th Jan, Thursday 31st Jan and Friday 1st Feb.

TERM 1 NEWSLETTER ‘08

WELCOME BACK TO GY SCHOOL OF DANCE!
Please read this newsletter! It contains information that you all need to know!!

GROOMING
Neat grooming and uniform for all WEEKDAY classes is MANDATORY!

GIRLS : Hair must be in a tidy bun, or the equivalent. 
              School uniform must be worn with no exceptions! This is either the approved clothing that is sold at the studio, or the RAD ballet leotards.
Tuesday students must wear black, leotard for ballet and either leotards or crop top and hot shorts for Flex and Spin and Lyrical.  Be sure to have the correct shoes for each class.

BOYS : all black for weekday classes.
SATURDAY CLASSES are more relaxed; however neat grooming must still be adhered to.
JFH classes: You may wear hip hop style gear, ie. Track pants, oversized singlets, T shirts, caps etc.
I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT EVERY STUDENT PURCHASE YOUR OWN KNEE PADS THIS YEAR! Label them and keep them in your dance bag. You all need to protect your knees!!!

DANCE BOOK
All grade students need to have a DANCE book that they take along to each class, as well as a pen or pencil. Ballet can be recorded in one end, and tap and jazz notes can be kept in the other.
Dance books are also useful for recording any of the ‘white board’ notes, such as extra rehearsals, or ‘showgroup’ information.

MOBILE PHONES and PERSONAL ITEMS
All bags are to be left outside the studios on the shelving provided.
Mobile phones, purses, wallets, money,  Jewelry etc. can be left at the Office or alternatively you may take them into the classroom, however phones must be switched to silent and cannot be used – No Responsibility is taken for any misplaced personal items. Avoid any incidents by either leaving them home or handing over to the desk for safe keeping.

THURSDAY CLASSES & SATURDAY TINY TOTS
This is our TICKET DAY!!
Students must purchase a ticket from the office before going into class. This ticket is handed into the teacher upon entering the studio. No Ticket, No Class!!
Term fees still apply and can be paid off throughout the term on a weekly basis, in which case the student receives the discounted fee, but a ticket must still be obtained from the office staff before entering the room. Please give yourself plenty of time to collect your ticket before class starts.
Alternatively, students may wish to ‘pay as they come’ being a casual, which is a slightly higher fee calculated over the full term.

ANNUAL REGISTRATION FEE
This fee is still $25 per family per year and has not increased for a number of years.
This covers all annual industry music licenses, insurances and Association Registration fees.
This year I am adding a TROUPE LEVY of $10 per student.
The cost to enter eisteddfods is absolutely exorbitant now! And I’ve held off for as long as I can.

Do you have any SECOND HAND SHOES FOR SALE?
Why not put a notice up on our board in the waiting area! Many families would appreciate buying shoes this way, particularly if their in good condition. If you do sell something, please remember to take the notice off the board.

      
           
   

NEW COMPUTERISED OFFICE SYSTEM!!

After you register with the studio, you will be given your own personalised ID card…this will have a bar code on it which will simplify things for the office staff. Do not lose this card as you will be charged a replacement fee of $5.
You must show this card every time you make payments.

      
           
   

There will also be a new system in place on Thursdays for TINY TOTS, BEGINNER TAP1 and 2 as well as ALL JAZZ/FUNK lessons. Saturday TINY TOTS are also included.
From this year, we are installing a TICKETING SYSTEM. When you pay your class fee you will be given a ticket which will be collected by one of the teachers before you walk into the class room. NO TICKET…NO ENTRY!
Even term payment students must collect their ticket first.
